Featured Herbs:
Stinging Nettle
Stinging Nettle is a great source of vitamins and trace minerals. It is traditionally used to detoxify the body and support liver function. Stinging Nettle also has a historical reputation for soothing inflammation and seasonal allergies.
Nettle has a square stem that can reach heights of over 6 feet. Its leaves are heart-shaped and covered in tiny hairs that deliver a powerful sting when touched. We recommend wearing thick gloves when harvesting! Learn more about Stinging Nettle in our blog post here.
Blackberry Leaf
Blackberry leaves are high in vitamin C, tannins and flavonoids. Historically, they are used for their astringent properties and ability to soothe inflammation. Blackberry leaves support the body in flushing out mucous and fighting free radicals.
Blackberry plants are abundant in British Columbia, especially here on Vancouver Island! Identify blackberry patches by looking for thorny, dense shrubs, which can grow up to 13 feet tall. Wear gloves and sturdy shoes while harvesting to protect from thorns.
Chaga
This medicinal mushroom has a rich history of use. From Siberia to China to North America, Chaga is a vital component of medicine for many cultures. It is full of antioxidants and traditionally used to combat free radicals and soothe inflammation.
In the wild, Chaga grows on birch trees in Northern climates. This is a symbiotic relationship and foraging this mushroom sustainably can be challenging. We recommend using our Concentrated Mushroom Powder in your smoothie bowl.
