National Sales Manager

The Role

As the National Sales Manager you will lead all functions essential to the sales effort for the B2B (wholesale) channel nationally. These include planning, reporting, goal setting & execution, sales process and program optimization, sales training and the recruitment and selection of talent.

This is a field-based role that requires coaching and development of Sales Representatives through frequent field visits, as well as trade spend optimization, forecasting, and setting and executing impactful channel plans that will achieve or exceed target.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high performing nationwide sales team (both permanent and contractor relationships) to achieve sales targets by providing strong mentorship, coaching, and guidance.
  • Provide support to large key accounts when necessary.
  • Work closely with VP of Sales & Marketing to lead business development strategies, finding new growth opportunities and forming strategic partnerships that open new markets in Canada.
  • Develop & execute clear and focused channel plans that are aligned with strategy which includes effective analysis of key sales data, environmental scan, identification of opportunities and risks, development and tracking execution against plans.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales analyses.
  • Implement and manage sales forecasting, planning, budgeting, and/or trade spend processes that deliver on the strategy mapped out by senior leadership.
  • Create a motivated and engaged team through effective recruiting, coaching and development, focused on achieving sales targets, working collaboratively on OKRs.
  • Establish a team culture built on continuous improvement to effectively improve the way work is done using Harmonic Arts’ core values.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics with sales team and suggest improvements and assistance with account planning.
  • Rapidly build networks and relationships built on trust – developing and maintaining successful relationships with existing and potential customers nationwide.
  • Manage and monitor trade spend initiatives to ensure ROI, make recommendations to continually improve ROI, coach and support sales team in trade spend negotiations.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, such as the Marketing Manager and Plant Manager, to create and execute effective plans that will deliver sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Provide consistent, valuable feedback to the marketing team on industry climate, competitor activities, innovation in packaging and delivery formats and trending products.
  • Ensure sales team is effectively promoting new marketing initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with new product launches and ensure buy-in from sales team members.
  • Ensure sales team is up to date on all label changes, product changes, Health Canada changes, and out of stock ETAs.
  • Adhere to all company values, policies, including safety and local regulations including administrative processes and requirements (e.g. expense submissions, vehicle maintenance and reporting, completion of mandatory training, meeting defined deadlines, etc.).
  • Other duties as required. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or any related field of study.
  • 5+ years of successful sales experience, preferably in the NHP or CPG industries.
  • Background in CPG, health and wellness, nutrition, or supplements is an asset.
  • Previous experience leading and developing others in a management capacity is an asset.
  • Strong personal leadership, cross-functional teamwork, and strategic thought leadership.
  • Highly skilled at using analytical data to recommend strategic solutions.
  • Budget management and ROI analysis of investments.
  • Effective communication and strong leadership skills are required to express analytics and deliver presentations to various levels within the organization.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, effective time management, exceptional prioritization abilities, proficient in project management, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
  • Computer literacy and expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ease with adapting to new technologies.
  • Valid full driver’s license and safe driving record is required.
  • As much as 50% travel across Canada will be required with this role. Overnight travel and weekend work will be required occasionally, including trade shows.
  • Must be based in Vancouver/lower mainland region or Calgary region.

 Permanent, Full-time, Based out of Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB; Remote 

Schedule

 Based on the needs of the business; Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30 PST/PDT; hours may flex based on work commitments and travel.

Compensation

 $90,000-$110,000 per year
